Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has stated that he has no intention of negotiating a new nuclear deal with Donald Trump.
The Iranian leader spoke over the weekend after the U.S. administration sent a letter to Tehran regarding the issue.
During a discussion with Iranian officials, Khamenei rejected the proposal, accusing the U.S. of trying to further restrict Iran’s nuclear program.
"Some bully governments insist on negotiations. But their negotiations are not aimed at solving issues, but to dominate and impose their own expectations," he said, according to state media.
"For them, negotiation is a means to introduce new demands. The issue is not just about nuclear matters; they raise new expectations that Iran will certainly not accept," the Iranian leader added.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has expressed his desire to negotiate with Iran while maintaining an aggressive stance toward the country.
