The newly elected Pope Leo XIV is reportedly dissatisfied with Donald Trump’s immigration policies, according to his brother, John Prevost.
In an interview with The New York Times, John Prevost said his brother would not remain silent about the former president’s actions.
Cardinals elected Robert Francis Prevost as the new pope on Thursday after two days of conclave, making him the first American to lead the Catholic Church. Born in Illinois, Prevost spent much of his early career as a missionary in Peru before rising through the Vatican ranks.
Describing his brother, John Prevost told the paper: “The best way I could describe him right now is that he will be following in Francis' footsteps. They were very good friends. They knew each other before he was pope, before my brother even was bishop.”
“I know he's not happy with what's going on with immigration. I know that for a fact,” he added, noting that the new pope will not remain “silent” on the issue.
