The United States has imposed sanctions on a network of individuals and entities in Iran suspected of facilitating the transfer of materials used to build ballistic missiles for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The U.S. Treasury Department announced it had targeted six companies and six individuals allegedly involved in the transfer of chemical products used in missile engine production.
The move comes as Washington and Tehran remain engaged in sensitive nuclear negotiations, with several rounds of talks already held in Oman.
“Iran's aggressive development of missiles and other weapons capabilities imperils the safety of the United States and our partners,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Tuesday.
U.S. and Iranian officials are expected to meet again this weekend for another round of nuclear talks.
