For centuries, the Vatican has been shrouded in mystery and speculation, particularly concerning its apostolic archives, which house over 80 kilometres (50 miles) of historical documents.

A group of researchers and scientists have renewed their interest in the Vatican's apostolic archives, searching for possible documents related to UFOs and paranormal phenomena. This attention intensified following David Grusch 's statements on 26 July 2023, a former US intelligence official, who claimed the Vatican collaborated in concealing extraterrestrial secrets.

According to Grusch, Pope Pius XII facilitated the transfer of a UFO recovered in Italy under Mussolini's regime to the United States.

Professor Diana Walsh Pasulka, a religious studies specialist at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, claims that the Vatican archives contain numerous reports of paranormal events, such as nuns witnessing luminous spheres entering their cells and flying houses. According to Pasulka, these phenomena could be interpreted as encounters with UFOs rather than traditional miracles.
