The American billionaire Bill Gates has just committed to donate $200 billion through his foundation by 2045.

A donation that, according to him, should help eradicate certain diseases such as polio and malaria. On the other hand, he believes that the other billionaire, the world's richest person, Trump's right-hand man, the head of Tesla, “is killing the poorest children in the world”.

The remarks from the Microsoft co-founder, who is now 69 years old, refer to the drastic budget cuts to American foreign aid (notably USAID) made by the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) led by Elon Musk. “The image of the world's richest man killing the world's poorest children is not a pretty sight,” stated Bill Gates.

"I don't want to die rich"

This Thursday, the American billionaire indicated that his foundation will close on December 31, 2045. The announced $200 billion donation is, according to him, intended to help eradicate several diseases like malaria and polio, end preventable deaths among children and women, and also reduce poverty worldwide, as reported by Le Figaro. “The number of deaths will begin to increase for the first time... there will be millions of additional deaths due to (the lack of) resources,” Bill Gates highlighted to Reuters.

And added, in a note published on his website: “People will say many things about me when I die, but I'm determined that one of them won't be ‘he died rich’”. “There are too many urgent problems to solve for me to hold on to resources that could be used to help people.”
