The Dutch authorities are preparing the country for a potential military confrontation with Russia. The director of the Dutch military intelligence agency MIVD, Vice Admiral Peter Riznick, stated this in an interview with Politico.
According to him, after the conflict in Ukraine ends, Russia could be ready for another war in a year if it manages to maintain the production of weapons and equipment at the current level.
"The Netherlands, like the rest of NATO, is on high alert to ensure that we're ready if this happens," stated Riznick. At the same time, he emphasised that he considered China a greater threat than Russia.
These statements follow a recent speech by the King of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, who called for a large-scale rearmament of the country.
