Several sections of motorway will be able to be used at 150km/h in this European country.

The Czech Republic is raising its speed limit on motorways to 150km/h. Starting at the end of September, drivers in the Czech Republic will be able to accelerate beyond the previously permitted speed of 130km/h. Transport Minister Martin Kupka explains: "We want to assess how the increased speed limit will be perceived by the population and whether it will lead to an increase in the accident rate."

This new speed limit will apply to a section of the D3 between Tábor and České Budějovice, in southern Czechia. Several precautions will also be taken to reduce the risk of accidents: the speed limit will be subject to both traffic density and the weather. Depending on these factors, the signs will be updated in real time.

Additionally, the country's Roads and Highways Authority is considering targeting other sections of highway that could potentially see their speed limits increased. But first, let's leave room for experimentation.
