This popular 1980s toy now sells for over 15,000 euros

Toys feature on many wish lists, for birthdays or Christmas, these mythical 1980s figurines now sell for a fortune.

Children who grew up during the era when their toy figurines were inspired by the Transformers series and have kept them in good condition can now make thousands of euros. Replicas of the original Transformers characters, these toys are highly sought after by collectors, according to the media Demotivateur.

But why are they so valuable?

Because these figurines evoke a sense of nostalgia and are also becoming increasingly rare, depending on their year of manufacture. The most sought-after ones are those made between 1984 and 1992.

And that's not all, as the price will also depend on even more coveted models, such as limited editions and Japanese exclusives. Has your toy been kept in mint condition in a sealed box? Then you're in for a jackpot!

Very limited series

Some characters particularly cherished by collectors can sell at high prices. This is the case, for example, with Devastator, Optimus Prime, or Megatron. As noted by Demotivateur, for the Optimus Prime G1, the most passionate (or nostalgic) collectors will pay between 5,000 and 10,000 euros, provided it's in a sealed box. The value of the G1 Megatron, dating from 1984, ranges between 2,000 and 5,000 euros. And this is nothing compared to the price of the Black Zarak model from 1988, a Japanese exclusive worth nearly 10,000 euros, or even the Lucky Draw Gold Figures, a limited series, which is sold for up to 15,000 euros.
