US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on Saturday in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, where they attended the funeral of Pope Francis.
"Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results,," Zelensky declared afterwards about the meeting that lasted about fifteen minutes. He further described the encounter with president Trump as a "good meeting".
A White House spokesperson described it as a "very productive discussion," but did not provide more details about the conversation's content.
Trump and Zelensky spoke to each other before the start of the pope's funeral. It was their first meeting since they clashed at the end of February during a meeting at the White House.
