During the visit of German Chancellor Merz to the White House, US President Trump suggested that, in his view, a peace agreement is not in sight.
"Sometimes you’re better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart," US President Donald Trump said during the visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to the White House. Merz urged Trump to continue putting pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and to encourage him to start peace negotiations.
Trump therefore appears to have little hope for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. He also stated that in his phone conversation with Putin on Wednesday, he had said the two countries are really like "two young children fighting like crazy in a park".
