Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky has stated that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, must be convinced that Vladimir Putin is lying.
Zelensky wants to clarify that it's not the Ukrainians who are holding back a potential peace process. "Trump must be convinced that Putin is lying. And we must show common sense and demonstrate that it's not us who are holding up this process. That’s why I do what I do, so that other countries, not just the United States, see that Putin doesn’t want (the process)," declared Mr Zelensky in an interview with the German magazine "Der Spiegel", referring to his willingness to meet the Russian president in Istanbul.
Mr Zelensky admits that he doesn't believe Mr Putin is actually willing to meet him, but he believes there is some probability that he eventually goes to Turkey.
