On Monday, the presidents of Russia and Ukraine themselves were not present at the peace talks between the two countries in Istanbul.
The Turkish president Erdogan wants the Ukrainian, Russian, and American presidents to be present at the next round of negotiations. Erdogan stated this after the direct discussions in Istanbul. The Turkish president emphasised that the talks 'went very well' and that he would take steps to bring Putin, Zelensky, and Trump to Istanbul next time.
It did not remain quiet for long in the White House as a response soon followed to the offer: the American president Donald Trump is open to attending talks between Ukrainian president Zelensky and Russian president Putin.
