Trump prevents Musk from receiving secret briefing on China

News site Axios reports that Donald Trump personally ensured that his right-hand man Elon Musk could not attend a secret briefing on China on March 21.

This secret briefing was to take place at the Pentagon, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was to share classified information with Musk about what the United States would plan militarily if it came to a war with China. However, the American president quashed this.

“What on earth is Elon doing there?” Trump reportedly said to his staff. “Make sure he doesn't attend that briefing.” Consequently, Musk was denied entry at the last moment.

“The president is still very fond of Elon, but boundaries must be set,” a senior official anonymously told Axios. “Elon does a lot of business in China and maintains good relations there. This briefing was simply not the right call.”
