Trump's approval rating is historically low

According to a Gallup poll, only 45 percent of Americans support the policies of US President Donald Trump.

No other president has received so little support from the American public in their first hundred days in the White House. Or perhaps one did: Donald Trump in his first term, when his approval rating was barely 41 percent. Between 1952 and 2020, that figure averaged 60 percent.

John F. Kennedy and Dwight Eisenhower had the highest average ratings in the first quarter: both exceeded 70%, according to Gallup. Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, and Ronald Reagan averaged between 60% and 69%. George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Joe Biden, and Bill Clinton had comparable average ratings of 55% to 58% in their first quarters. Trump is the only president with average approval ratings below 50% in the first quarter of his term.

According to the polling agency, Trump's low rating is mainly due to the economic uncertainty he caused by imposing import tariffs. The announcement of the tariffs led to significant losses in the stock markets. Despite the announced 90-day pause before implementing certain tariffs, markets remain unstable, and there are fears of a recession and slower economic growth.

On Saturday, there were renewed protests across all states in the United States against Donald Trump's policies.
