In a speech delivered before the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andri Sibiga, emphasised on Friday Ukraine's red lines regarding potential negotiations with Russia, insisting that his government would never recognise territories occupied by Moscow's forces as Russian.

"Firstly, we will not recognise any of the temporarily occupied territories as Russian. Secondly, we will not accept any restrictions on the structure, size, or other characteristics of the Ukrainian defence forces, nor any restrictions on our defence industry, military assistance from our allies, or the presence of their troops on our territory," he stated.

"Thirdly, we will not accept any constraints on Ukraine's sovereignty, on our national and foreign policy, particularly regarding the choice of unions or alliances we wish to join," he added.

Mr. Sibiga noted that despite the lack of consensus on inviting Ukraine to join NATO, Ukraine will continue striving to join the organisation and that Moscow does not have a veto right in this respect.
