Ukrainian boy (16) kills mother and half-sister (6) in Belgium

At the beginning of June, a family tragedy took place in a house in Haasrode, Flemish Brabant (Belgium). A 16-year-old boy from Ukraine killed his mother, half-sister, and dog. He then set fire to conceal the evidence. He has already given confessions to the police.

The teenager killed them with a sharp object, believed to be a knife. The 16-year-old perpetrator was arrested and is currently being held at the secure community institution De Grubbe in Everberg. The boy is said to have had an argument with his mother about his truancy. The family fled Ukraine for Belgium three years ago due to the war begun by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The mother worked at Sint-Kamillus psychiatric hospital.
