Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has spoken out about his February confrontation with Donald Trump, calling the situation "complicated" and expressing a desire to repair diplomatic ties with Washington.

In an interview with ABC News, Zelenskyy recounted the tense Oval Office meeting, during which he and Trump were expected to sign an agreement on mineral resources. However, the conversation reportedly turned heated when Vice President JD Vance criticized Ukraine for allegedly never thanking the United States for its support since the war began.

Recalling the episode, Zelenskyy told ABC: "We all saw that Oval Office, chaotic, disastrous meeting. I know after that meeting, you tried to repair that relationship. Tell us what it was like in the aftermath."

He continued: "It's quite complicated. You could watch it live, and it was very clear and very straightforward. I always remind people: cameras don't lie. Everyone could see it on their television screens. I was very honest and open when I said that a small country is fighting for its life against a giant—bringing evil, weapons, and destruction to our land."

For now, peace talks between Ukraine and Russia remain stalled, with Donald Trump admitting that peace is unlikely in the near future.
