The Trump administration is taking on solar panels from Southeast Asia and is employing heavy measures to do so.

The United States is set to impose import duties on companies based in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. According to US research, these companies have received subsidies from the Chinese government. To counter these Chinese support measures, the US government intends to impose heavy import tariffs on these solar panels from Southeast Asia. This was announced by the US government on Monday.

Focus on Cambodia

Specifically, it would involve average import duties of 34.41 percent for solar panels from Malaysia and up to 651.85 percent on solar panels from Cambodia. However, at least two Cambodian companies, Hounen Solar and Solar Long PV-Tech, would face tariffs of 3,521 percent, which is an astounding 35 times the price of their products.
