Vladimir Putin has escalated military operations this March, even as ceasefire negotiations have shown some progress.

While Ukraine and Russia have only agreed to a 30-day ceasefire on each other's energy infrastructure, and talks continue in Saudi Arabia, Russian forces have conducted more assaults in early March than in all of February.

According to Ukrainian media outlet DeepState, Russian attacks increased by 17% from March 1 to 26 compared to February. Between March 25 and 27, Russia launched 200 assaults per day, marking a record-high in 2025 for such a short period.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces managed to enter Russia’s Belgorod region this week, while Russia has regained ground in the Kursk region, part of which remains under Ukrainian control after last year’s summer offensive.
