Vladimir Putin is preparing to invade NATO territory, and it could happen within six months, experts have warned.

This alarming information comes after German General Carsten Breuer suggested that Moscow could launch an attack on a NATO member within the next four years.

The warning was discussed on Andy Marr’s podcast for the New Statesman, where Oliver Moody, the Berlin bureau chief for The Times, said: "If you believe the Danish intelligence service, it could be as little as six months, according to their latest estimate."

"In fairness to Scholz, he’s taken action on both fronts. The state of equipment and morale within Germany’s armed forces has improved quite significantly. But it’s still nowhere near where it needs to be if Germany is to fully honor its commitments," he added.

The expert went on to argue that Russia has adopted a strategy of "industrial-scale sub-military warfare," in which "every conceivable non-military tool has been deployed."

Despite early attempts at peace negotiations, Moscow and Kyiv continue fighting, while the United States — having recently engaged in talks with Russia — is now increasingly focused on the ongoing trade war.
