Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Ukraine is aware of at least 155 Chinese nationals fighting alongside Russian forces on Ukrainian soil, while Beijing has yet to publicly respond to these allegations.

Ukrainian officials have released two files containing the names and photos of Chinese fighters reportedly enlisted with Vladimir Putin’s army.

Speaking to reporters, the Ukrainian president admitted he did not know whether Beijing had specifically ordered its citizens to fight in Ukraine, but insisted the local government was aware that Chinese nationals would end up on the battlefield.

"We record that they [China] knew about it. We record that these are Chinese citizens, they are fighting against us, using weapons against Ukrainians on the territory of Ukraine. Their motivation — whether it’s money, politics, or something else — is not yet known to me. But it will be known," Zelenskyy said.

One of the intelligence documents reportedly includes photos and identities of 13 fighters, aged between 19 and 45.

"We believe that there are more, much more," Zelenskyy added.
