It was on 26 April at the Vatican, shortly after Pope Francis's funeral. Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky met in the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome to discuss the ongoing war between Kiev and Moscow, and assess the situation.

A meeting that may have made an impression on the US President.

Indeed, according to Zelensky, the discussion allowed Donald Trump to consider the war in Ukraine “a bit differently". "I'm confident that after our meeting at the Vatican, President Trump has started to see things a bit differently," the Ukrainian leader pointed out as strikes continue unabated.

A Solid Unity

More recently, on May 10, Kiev, its European allies and Washington issued an ultimatum to the Kremlin leader: a "complete and unconditional" 30-day ceasefire starting this week. According to French President Emmanuel Macron, this truce will be controlled by Washington, with Europe's contribution. The member countries of the coalition of volunteers have "decided to support a 30-day ceasefire" ,"with monitoring primarily ensured by the United States of America" and to which "all Europeans will contribute," he declared.

This strengthens the impressions of the Ukrainian President: Donald Trump is indeed reconsidering the war.
