For the eighth consecutive year, this part of the world has ranked first in the list of countries where life is good.

According to the latest report from the UN (United Nations Organisation), published on 20th March 2025, the happiest country in the world is... drumroll, please... Finland, closely followed by Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and the Netherlands.

As reported Demotivateur, to achieve this result, the UN relied on several factors analysed over three years: GDP per capita, residents' life satisfaction, social support, freedom, healthy life expectancy, corruption, and generosity. This year's report also emphasises that all these criteria are “significant predictors of happiness, even more so than earning a higher salary”.

But why more smiles among the Finns?

It appears, according to an analysis conducted by the Huffpost, that three key criteria strongly contribute to the happiness felt in Finland: a good work-life balance, an absence of pressure to always be positive, ubiquitous nature, and easy, quick access to outdoor activities.

Moreover, Finns express extreme satisfaction with the functional system in place, citing free education, accessible healthcare, and financial support for those in need. Finally, it should also be noted that Finns have unwavering trust in their institutions.

So, ready to pack your bags?
