While Donald Trump is currently dedicating much of his time to tariffs and the ongoing trade war, some wealthy investors are urging the American leader not to lose sight of Greenland.
On several occasions, Trump has floated the idea of acquiring the territory — which belongs to Denmark — by any means necessary, despite strong opposition from both the Greenlandic and Danish governments.
Three sources close to Trump told Reuters that Greenland could become a "utopian" territory free from most traditional regulations.
Ken Howery, who is expected to become the next U.S. ambassador to Denmark in the coming months, has reportedly backed the project, even though no formal discussions have yet begun.
According to one of the sources, Greenland could be transformed into a hub for artificial intelligence, featuring its own network of autonomous vehicles, rocket launch sites, and even a high-speed rail system.
Trump has never ruled out the possibility of taking Greenland by force if Denmark refuses to sell the Arctic territory.
