While the tomb of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun was discovered over a century ago in 1922, archaeologists have recently uncovered a long-hidden secret treasure.

Located in Egypt's Valley of the Kings, the tomb initially revealed over 5,000 invaluable artifacts, including the famous golden death mask. However, a new study suggests that Tutankhamun's tomb held even more secrets.

Dr. Nicholas Brown, an Egyptologist at Yale University, claims that the significance of certain objects was forgotten until now. He specifically highlights the clay trays and wooden sticks found in the pharaoh's sarcophagus, which were part of the "Osiris Funerary Rite" — a ritual honoring the god of the afterlife.

"While excavating the tomb of Tutankhamun, an enigmatic set of objects was discovered in the burial chamber," Brown said in his study.

"However, closer examination of the religious and archaeological context of the artifacts enables another interpretation of their function," he wrote.
