This New Zealand woman's passion for birds is currently costing her dearly.
In Auckland, a resident from the Newmarket area has to pay a 7000 dollar fine... for feeding birds that gathered outside her home.
According to The New Zealand Herald, neighbours reportedly complained to the housing association: the pigeons and other birds have caused a fair amount of damage around the building. Moreover, the complainants pointed out that renting the flats is becoming increasingly difficult due to these colonies of birds.
In court, the accused tried to defend herself by stating that she had initially moved away from the property to feed the animals. Gradually, she said she stopped maintaining this distance, fearing for the health of the pigeons.
