American president Donald Trump has put a 90-day pause on the introduction of trade tariffs. According to the White House spokeswoman, we clearly do not understand what he is doing.
It was quite a surprise when American president Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on import tariffs. At least for the 75 or so countries that are not planning or have not taken countermeasures against the American import tariffs and have shown willingness to negotiate the tariffs.
For import tariffs on products from China, Trump is even increasing the tariff to 125 percent, "based on the lack of respect China has shown to the global markets," according to Trump on his social network Truth Social.
According to spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, it has always been the intention of the American president to act in this way: "You clearly failed to see what President Trump is doing here", she stated at a press conference she held, along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
