Since his physical appearance changed, rumours have been going around, suggesting the American actor has become completely addicted to plastic surgery. So, truth or distortion?

For several years now, Zac Efron no longer resembles how he appeared in his High School Musical days (the series that made him famous 20 years ago). Fans and media have noted numerous physical changes, particularly on his face, leading to speculation that the actor has undergone several cosmetic surgeries and igniting fears of a possible addiction.

An accident that changed everything

Yes, Efron required surgery, but no, he hasn't become addicted. In 2022, the actor himself explained that his changes were due to a serious domestic accident. Over 10 years ago, a jaw injury necessitated major reconstructive surgery. "He lost consciousness and remembers waking up with the chin bone hanging off his face." Following this operation, "the masseter muscle just grew," noted Zac Efron. To compensate for his injury, the muscles in his face now have to work harder, reports the media outlet Unilad, resulting in significant changes to his facial structure.
