Ukraine can begin bilateral negotiations with Russia, but such dialogue is only possible after a complete ceasefire, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president believes that Russia is reluctant to engage in direct negotiations with Ukraine, despite signals from the Kremlin. In his view, these signals might indicate either a fear that the United States will withdraw from the negotiation process or a desire for Washington to cease its participation.
Commenting on the negotiations between the United States and Russia, the president expressed hope that Ukraine would know everything it needs to know.
"I am specifically speaking about the issue of Ukraine," he specified.
On 21 April, Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal to stop attacks on civilian infrastructure for 30 days.
According to the head of the Kremlin, this initiative requires further examination. He also suggested the possibility of bilateral negotiations with Ukraine to discuss this issue.
According to military experts, on Sunday 20 April, Russia violated nearly 3,000 times the Easter ceasefire proposed by Putin.
