The Ukrainian President warns Russia that he doesn't guarantee the safety of the 9th of May parade in Moscow. He advised against travelling to Russia on these dates: "It will be your personal decision."

On the 9th of May, Russia celebrates Victory Day, the anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany during the Second World War, following the final offensive by the Soviet Union and its allies, with a military parade in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin invited leaders from Moscow's sympathetic countries. The Russian President has also ordered a three-day truce to mark this anniversary and has urged Kyiv to respect it. Ukraine responded by offering an indefinite and unconditional ceasefire.

"Our position towards the countries that have gone or will go on the 9th May is very simple: we cannot be responsible for what happens on the territory of the Russian Federation. They're in charge of security and therefore we give no guarantees," he declared, according to the Ukrainian news agency Interfax.

We must tell all those who contact us: "we do not recommend visiting the Russian Federation from a security perspective, and if you do, do not ask us for our opinion – it will be your personal decision,” he stated.
