"Captured Ukrainian soldiers must be treated as terrorists" (V. Putin)

The Russian president appears to suggest during his visit to Kursk that captured Ukrainian soldiers should be executed.

During an unannounced visit to Kursk, the Russian president Vladimir Putin has instructed his troops to expel the remaining Ukrainian units from the region. This was reported by the Russian state news agency TASS. "Our task in the near future is to decisively defeat the enemy in the Kursk region, fully liberate the territory and restore the situation along the state border," said Putin. The Russian president visited the region for the first time since the Ukrainian army unexpectedly crossed the border and captured territories there in August. Meanwhile, Russian troops have regained a large part of that territory. Putin wore a military uniform during his visit to Kursk.

Putin also stated that foreign citizens fighting with Ukrainian troops and captured in Kursk do not have the right to protection under the Geneva Convention. Ukrainian soldiers experiencing the same fate, according to him, should be treated as terrorists. This would mean they face execution or a penal colony...
