Elon Musk may soon no longer be part of the U.S. government, according to a report from Politico.

Appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after Donald Trump took office, the billionaire is now facing increasing scrutiny—not only for his controversial role in the government but also for his lack of involvement at Tesla.

In recent weeks, Tesla has been the target of vandalism, and the company is struggling to maintain sales in the European market.

While Politico reports that Trump and Musk have agreed that the latter will soon step down, the White House has denied this claim.

"Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will step down from his role as a special government employee once his incredible work leading DOGE (the government efficiency commission) is complete," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

As for Musk himself, he dismissed the report as “fake news” in a post on X.
